Husson Professor Russell Fulmer Publishes Two Articles on Artificial Intelligence

A Husson University professor recently had two new pieces focusing on artificial intelligence published. Professor and Director of Graduate Counseling Programs Russell Fulmer has conducted extensive research on Artificial Intelligence in the behavioral sciences. The two new pieces include a peer reviewed journal article and a commentary piece.

In “Artificial Intelligence in Human Growth and Development: Applications Through the Lifespan,” published in The Family Journal on October 1, 2024, Russell Fulmer and Yusan Zhan focuses on a conceptual model that shows significant AI applications and their influence from prenatal to maturity using Erikson's psychosocial stages as a framework. The peer reviewed article also proposes avenues for future research endeavors to further investigate the intersection of AI and human growth and development within counseling contexts.

Fulmer also published commentary in Issue 5, Volume 2 of the Journal of Technology in Counselor Education and Supervision, of which he is an editor. The piece entitled “A Primer on How Artificial Intelligence Algorithms Control You,” focuses on the heavy influence AI algorithms can have on worldview and recommends that counselors talk about power dynamics and AI in classrooms to encourage a discussion of algorithms.
