Math Placement Policy

All students are required to demonstrate competency in Math. Before starting in their first year, students are placed in Math courses based on their application, the admission-optional SAT scores, or other measures. Students appearing to need additional preparation in order to succeed at the University may be required to take Math courses with a designation of MS093. The credits awarded for such courses do not count toward degree completion. Students who believe they have been improperly assigned to such courses are encouraged to talk to their instructors, advisors, and the head of the Math department.

Students who fail to earn a grade of "C" or better in courses designated as MS093 must repeat them in the subsequent semester.

Math placement exams are required of all students that do not have college transfer or AP credit in Math. Students who do not have credit and do not take the online test will not be able to take a Math class until this is done. Placement information is required to complete your class schedule.

All students that do not have college transfer or AP credit in math are required to take a placement test and the information about this process can be accessed by following this link. Your department needs this information to finalize your course schedule.
