The Challenge
This year, the Husson Alumni Association Board showcased the true meaning of community by coming together as ONE board to sponsor a challenge for Giving Day. Through their collective efforts, the Alumni Board generously donated $500 to sponsor the 500th donor challenge on Giving Day 2023, so the 500th donor’s area received the matching funds.
The 500th donor on Giving Day was recent alum Dylan Foster ’15, who won the Husson Baseball team an additional $500 in matching funds!

The Impact
Sometimes a small act of kindness creates a ripple effect that affects the lives of many. Head Baseball Coach, Chris Morris, is excited to announce how the team and student-athletes have benefited from these acts of generosity.

What do you like (love) most about Husson?
I will always cherish the relationships I made while at Husson University. I met my (now) wife while we were both students at Husson and our first date was studying together in the Furman Student Center. Some of our closest friends and most of our wedding party and attendees were Husson classmates and teammates.
I am still in contact with my former baseball coaches (Coach Harvey, Coach Portwine and Coach Folsom) and continue to lean on them for guidance. Current Head Coach Morris is someone I talk with on a daily basis and has been a huge influence and a great mentor to me as well. The Husson community is an extremely tight-knit group and one that I am proud to be a part of as a Husson Alum!
What’s your earliest memory of getting involved with Husson after graduation?
Since graduation, I have been lucky enough to return to campus a couple of times a year for football, baseball, and field hockey games. It has been great to see the new additions to campus, and how it has continued to grow while still being the Husson I remember.
Each time I visit, I've had the opportunity to see some familiar faces and catch up with faculty and staff that still remember me by name, which speaks to the type of community there is at Husson.
Why do you give back through Husson? What motivated you?
As a first-generation college student, I realize that the opportunities provided to me would not have been possible without the generosity of others.
During my time at Husson, I had an extremely positive experience in the classroom, on the athletics fields, and in the Bangor community, where I was able to develop relationships, learn skills, and grow as a person.
Knowing that my gift to Husson may play a small role in providing someone else with the same experiences I was lucky enough to have leaves me with a rewarding feeling.
How has your Husson degree helped you?
The education I received at Husson prepared me, both intellectually and socially, for my career and life after college. The skills and knowledge provided during my schooling have been instrumental. The relationships and connections formed with faculty and staff have become some of my most important personal assets. Even a decade after graduating, my former academic advisor (Dr. Lee Speronis) still serves as a trusted mentor and is one of the first people I call or email for career advice and guidance.
