Challenge Areas

What are Giving Day Challenge Areas?

Each year, we have some generous supporters step forward to provide matching gift funds to increase the impact of your donation to the area of campus that means the most to you. Whether it's through an all-day, hourly, or donor-specific challenge, there are many chances to maximize your gift. Be sure to follow us on social media and check your email on April 2 as we may have some surprise challenges throughout the day!

Main Challenges (All-Day)

Each gift counts as a "vote" to the area within Husson that the donor is most excited about. The team that hits one of the following four all-day challenges will win an additional $1,000. Gifts of $5 or more will only be counted toward the four main challenges.

  • Has the highest number of donors*
  • Has the highest number of first-time donors
  • Has at least 5 donors and the highest number of faculty/staff donors
  • Has at least 5 donors and the highest number of student donors

*All gifts over $5 will count.

Feel like waiting until the end? Be the last donor of the night (closest to midnight before April 3 begins) and we will give an additional $1,000 to the area you supported!
Challenge Fine Print

A donor will be counted only once in each giving area. If a donor makes multiple gifts to the same area, they will be counted as one donor.

For the main challenges, gifts of $5 or more will be counted toward unlocking one of the 4 $1,000 gifts. Gifts of any amount will count for the remaining challenge opportunities.

First-time donors are defined as donors who are making their first-ever gift to Husson, not their first time participating in Giving Day.

  • All gifts received, either prior to or on Giving Day (April 2), will be counted towards the "Main Challenges," the donor count challenges.
  • We will be reporting on leaders of the Main Challenges from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EDT.
  • Only gifts received on Giving Day will be considered for the hourly challenges.
  • For the challenges, an area can win more than one match (i.e. highest number of donors, Procrastinator, etc.)
