Biography
Dr. Jessica L. Johnson completed her PharmD at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2009, followed by a one-year PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the LSU Earl K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Following residency, in 2010 she joined the faculty of Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy where she maintained a clinical practice site in Adult Critical Care Medicine at University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2017, Dr. Johnson transitioned to Biloxi, Mississippi to help design and deliver an innovative curriculum for the opening of the new William Carey University School of Pharmacy.
Seeking professional advancement and a chance of scenery, Dr. Johnson headed north and joined the Husson University School of Pharmacy in 2022 as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice.
Her teaching philosophy centers on active, engaged learning strategies and experiential service-learning to develop professional identity. She builds relationships with her community and colleagues through collaborative, scholarly writing projects and direct outreach to the medically underserved. Her research interests focus on medication safety for quality improvement and strategies for faculty to advance professional identity formation in learners.
