Biography
Jordan G Shaw, M.Div., LCPC, CCMHC is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor licensed in the State of Maine and is an Assistant Professor of Counseling at Husson University. He holds an Interdisciplinary Individualized Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Religion from the University of Maine at Farmington, a Master of Divinity from Bangor Theological Seminary, where he focused his course work on Sexual Ethics and Pastoral Care, a Master of Science in Counseling, with a Specialization in Family Systems work, from the University of Southern Maine. He is pursuing a Doctorate of Education in Counselor Education and Supervision at National Louis University in Tampa, Florida, where his dissertation explores the lived experience of professional identity development of Master’s level professional counseling interns. In addition, his other academic interests include religion and spirituality in counseling, ethics, and relationships.
He is the founder and former Director of the University of Maine at Augusta Counseling Laboratory, a formal training for Clinical Mental Health Counseling students from CACREP-accredited programs completing their Practicum and Internship experience, with a particular focus on providing supervision to graduate students who wish to work with couples, families, and individuals from a systemic lens. He is co-founder, with two colleagues, Alexander Katopis and Tina Nightingale, of the Collaborative Counseling Laboratory, a counseling laboratory that hosts Practicum students from CACREP-accredited programs.
Jordan’s clinical experience includes working with diverse individuals, couples, families, and groups across the lifespan and has worked in diverse settings supporting the growth and health of systems. His clinical interest includes working with couples and families and he maintains a private practice providing counseling to couples and families in Central Maine.
