Biography

Samuel Hallett earned his bachelor’s degree in communications with a focus in Video Production from the New England School of Communications.  Before joining Husson University, Sam started out as an event photographer/videographer covering cooperate seminars, focus groups, concerts and weddings before moving into his role as senior editor at Digital Workshop.  As senior editor he worked with commercial clients creating video content for web, commercial and training use, he also took over production of the University of Maine athletics TV show Black Bear Insider for 3 seasons.  Sam was also involved with running and creating content for the in-house video board show for Maine Black Bears Ice Hockey and Basketball teams and installation of the new video system at the new Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.

Sam’s next endeavor would take him to Canisius College in Buffalo, New York to help with the start of their new ESPN3 production facility and sports production classes.  Sam helped oversee the completion of the new production facility and managed all broadcasts of athletic events at Canisius College.  He also taught sports productions 1 and 2 for the journalism department, students were trained on all aspects of video production for sports and ran all positions during live broadcasts of events.

After his time at Canisius College, Sam came back to his home state of Maine to take a new role at the University of Maine and their new ESPN3 partnership for athletics.  Sam engineered and built the first broadcast flyback for producing live sporting events for ESPN3.  After the success of the new fly pack, Sam would oversee 2 full-time employees and dozens of student staff and cover 80-100 events a year.  After outgrowing the fly pack, Sam went on to engineer and build the University’s first 20’ Live production trailer, complete with Ross Carbonite switcher and Xpression Graphics, 3Play Replay system and Behringer audio mixer.  With the new production trailer, Sam negotiated the contracts to bring all production in house and took over production of linear broadcasts of football and hockey on WVII and WPXT throughout the state of Maine.  In addition to the broadcasts, he also brought the Black Bear Insider TV show back in-house and oversaw the production of the show.  During Sam’s time there he had opportunities to produce content for ESPN, ESPN+, FOX, CBS, NESN, FloSports, and other streaming outfits.

Sam resides in the Brewer/Orrington area with His wife Ashley and 2 children and enjoys his hobbies of Golf, 3d printing and miniature model making.
