Biography

Dr. Victor M. Brown hails from Montego Bay, Jamaica, where he became the first in his family to pursue higher education. He earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. Subsequently, he was awarded a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship, which allowed him to study in London, England, where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Molecular Plant Pathology and Tissue Culture from Wye College, University of London. His academic journey continued with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry through a collaborative program between the University of the West Indies and Wye College, along with an M.B.A. in Business Administration from Goizueta Business School, Emory University.

Dr. Victor M. Brown has held prominent administrative and faculty positions at various public and private colleges and universities across Alabama, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, and Maine. He is renowned for his leadership in institutional and program-specific accreditation, assessment, curriculum development, and the restructuring of academic programs. His initiatives promote high-impact practices such as stackable credentials and experiential learning. Dr. Brown plays a crucial role in shaping institutional policies that enhance instructional modalities and improve student recruitment, retention, and graduation rates through collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. He has also actively fostered partnerships between two- and four-year institutions to enhance student matriculation and success. Currently, he serves as the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at Husson University.

A strong advocate for diversity, inclusion, and strategic planning, Dr. Brown is committed to increasing opportunities for underrepresented youth in higher education. He collaborates with schools, government agencies, and non-profit organizations to develop initiatives that raise awareness about educational and career opportunities. His impactful efforts have earned him recognition, including the 2023 President Joseph R. Biden United States Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, which honors his advocacy for social justice and his commitment to fostering hope and social mobility through education. He received additional accolades from various organizations, including commendations from New Jersey’s Bergen County Executive and Board of Freeholders, the South Carolina House of Representatives, and The Southeastern Consortium of Minorities in Engineering.

Dr. Brown's dedication to equity and education is further evidenced by his involvement on the boards of several organizations, including the National Alliance for Partnership in Equity Education Foundation, the Assessment Network of New York, the Disabled Combat Veterans Youth Program, and Complete College America.
