Access and Service Policy for Unaffiliated Library Users
Hours and Sawyer Library Access
Visitors unaffiliated with Husson University, including Maine Reciprocal Borrowing Program visitors, may use the collections of the W. Tom and Bonnie Sawyer Library in house Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. During evenings and weekends, minors and unaffiliated users must be accompanied by an individual with a University ID unless permission is obtained from the University Librarian, who can be reached by phone at (207) 941-7187 or by email at reference@husson.edu. All unaffiliated users must sign in at the Service Desk upon arrival and provide identification.
Computer Use Policies
Use of library computer workstations in the library and in Peabody Hall is restricted to Husson users with login credentials. Visitors with their own computers may access the internet using the Guest wireless network.
Electronic Journals and Databases
Access to electronic journals, e-books and databases is not possible due to licensing restrictions and/or computer workstation login restrictions. The Digital Maine Library databases are available to Maine residents at no charge and may be accessed through personal laptops and mobile devices using the Guest wireless network when in the library.
Services
Inquiries about the collections and requests for information services should be made to library staff.
Community Borrowers
Unaffiliated users may obtain a community borrower card without charge. See Circulation Policy for details on borrowing, loan periods, and renewals.
All library users are asked to handle library materials with care. The Community Borrower card does not entitle the bearer to interlibrary loan or other specialized services available to Husson University affiliated users.
