The Gracie Theatre to Host a Preview Screening of “The Tale of the Three Brothers”

BANGOR, MAINE - The Gracie Theatre at Husson University will host the preview screening of a 22-minute, student-produced motion picture production of “The Tale of the Three Brothers.” Adapted from a story by J.K. Rowling with permission from Warner Brothers, this story was featured in the seventh and final Harry Potter novel, (The Deathly Hallows), and later released in a series of short stories entitled, “The Tales of Beedle the Bard.” A special 12–15 minute behind-the-scenes feature will follow the film.
“We are so proud of our students. Writing, producing, directing, editing, animation and special effects – they were responsible for everything necessary to take this film from initial concept to finished product,” said Thomas Johnston, president of Husson University’s New England School of Communications (NESCom).
“The results are MAGNIFICENT,” continued Johnston. “The outstanding creativity and production values inherent in this student project are a testament to the quality of media education available to aspiring film and television professionals through the New England School of Communications.”
This is not the first time NESCom has shared an outstanding student production with the public. In 2011-2012, the students of NESCom completed an adaption of Stephen King’s “The Last Rung on the Ladder”, which went on to win “Best Film in Maine” at the Lewiston Auburn Film Festival.
The short-film adaptation of “The Tale of the Three Brothers” was filmed in various Maine locations during the fall 2013 semester with post-production and editing completed in the spring of 2014. Please note that due to the dark subject matter, this presentation may not be suitable for younger audiences.
Admission is free and open to the public. The Gracie will be observing festival seating for this presentation with those who arrive first, getting to choose their seats first. The doors open at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014.
