Husson University and University of Maine at Fort Kent Reach Agreement to Facilitate the Transfer of Course Credit

BANGOR and FORT KENT, MAINE- Husson University and the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) have entered into an agreement that will create a smooth process for the transfer of credits from UMFK to Husson. A signing ceremony, representing the culmination of the agreement process, took place on March 30, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in Cyr Hall’s Grindle Conference Room on the University of Maine at Fort Kent campus.
The agreement covers the transfer of credits from the following UMFK bachelor’s degree programs into Husson University’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduate degree program.
UMFK Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Management – Accounting Concentration to Husson Master of Business Administration (MBA)
UMFK Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Management – E-Business Concentration to Husson Master of Business Administration (MBA)
UMFK Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Management – Financial Services Concentration to Husson Master of Business Administration (MBA)
UMFK Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Management – Finance Concentration to Husson Master of Business Administration (MBA)
UMFK Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Management – Healthcare Administration Concentration to Husson Master of Business Administration (MBA)
UMFK Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Management – Human Resources Management Concentration to Husson Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Through this agreement, UMFK seniors are eligible to receive credit toward a Husson MBA degree for two approved 400-level courses completed as part their undergraduate studies. To qualify, a student must satisfactorily complete an additional paper or project related to the content of each course and submit it to Husson University for review. If the papers or projects for the two courses demonstrate that the student possesses the required knowledge, then the student will only need to complete 30 credits to earn a Husson University MBA, instead of the usual 36 credits.
“This process provides UMFK business majors with the opportunity to complete master’s level work in some of their upper level business classes at UMFK. By recognizing this work, Husson University is helping to make an MBA degree more accessible,” said Husson University College of Business Dean Marie Hansen.
“It’s exciting to be working with UMFK to provide their students with a more seamless credit transfer process,” continued Hansen. “We look forward to welcoming UMFK students interested in furthering their studies to Husson University’s College of Business - Maine’s largest business school.”
“This articulation will provide an opportunity for our business students to move from undergraduate to graduate education in an efficient and more affordable manner. This type of public – private collaboration is an example of how our two institutions are focused on the needs of Maine learners,” says Scott Voisine, dean of community education at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
