Husson University to Honor Retirees During Second Annual Tree Planting Ceremony

BANGOR, MAINE - Husson University announced today that it will be honoring recent retirees with a tree planting ceremony on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 3 p.m. on its Bangor campus. The tree will be planted in recognition of three individuals whose service helped make this remarkable institution of higher learning a success.

The individuals to be honored include (in alphabetical order):
• Robert Kilpeck, Director of Safety and Security
• Carlene Thompson, Assistant to the Vice President of Administration, Student Affairs
• Paula Tingley, Ed.D., Interim Dean, College of Health & Education

“This tree planting celebrates the innumerable contributions these individuals have made to Husson University and the many students who have passed through our hallowed halls,” says Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Lynne Coy-Ogan. “The unique gifts and talents these individuals have so generously shared with our campus community will always be treasured.”

This is only the second time a tree has been planted on the Bangor campus of Husson University in honor of retiring employees. Future retirees will be honored each year in a similar manner. 

Celebrants are being asked to gather in the Campus Center at 3 p.m. on Friday prior to moving outdoors for the tree planting. The tree to be planted this year is a flowering crabapple. Refreshments will be served in the Campus Center at the conclusion of the ceremony.
