Celtic Roots Trio to Play The Gracie on St. Patrick’s Day

Kalos, a celtic roots trio, will bring a fresh vision of traditional music to The Gracie Theatre on St. Patrick’s Day.

Kalos, which is composed of Ryan McKasson, Eric McDonald and Jeremiah McLane, draws their inspiration from the traditional music of New England and the British Isles. The band’s Greek name, Kalos, means, “good that inspires others to embrace what is lovely.”

“It is truly an honor to have these extremely gifted musicians performing at The Gracie on St. Patrick’s Day,” said Jeri Misler, managing artistic director of The Gracie. “This group’s combined high level of musicianship and excitement is infectious. Bangor audiences will be blown away.”

Well-schooled in their craft with years of experience, each musician brings excellent credentials to the stage. 

Master fiddler and composer McKasson was the youngest player to ever win the United States National Scottish Fiddle Championship in 1996. He has performed, recorded and toured with his own band, The McKassons, and also regularly records and tours with other noted traditional recording artists and collaborations.

Eric McDonald, traditional balladeer and guitarist, is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, his hometown. Now, as a session musician, McDonald records and tours professionally with other musicians throughout the world. McDonald has released a debut album, “Rove” which features his unique take on traditional music as a mandolinist, as well as a guitarist and a singer.

Jeremiah McLane, award-winning composer and accordionist, began with classical piano studies and when on to learn blues, jazz, Indonesian gamelan and West African drumming. The New England native has been recognized nationally and internationally as a musician and composer.

Tickets for the concert are available on The Gracie’s website, www.gracietheatre.com or by calling the box office on weekdays at 941-7888. Prices range from $19.50-$27.50 with the standard ticket fees of $2.50 being added per ticket, and a maximum of $10.00 per order.  Children under 12 are $12.50.
