Husson University will welcome students back to campus this weekend as part of its annual Welcome Weekend festivities with residence hall move-ins, a meet and greet with Husson’s new president and a formal Convocation ceremony.
The events begin on Sunday, Sept. 1 when first-year students move into residence halls. In addition to getting settled in, students will meet with residential life staff, attend first-year class meetings and dine with their designated Welcome Weekend “squad.” There are also fun activities planned for the evening to help acclimate new students to campus.
Husson University’s incoming class includes more than 980 students from Maine and around the world.
Sunday will also mark the first Convocation led by President Lynne Coy-Ogan, Husson’s seventh president and first female CEO. Marking the start of the academic year, Convocation is an annual event attended by first-year students to formally welcome students to campus as well as administer pledges to mark our campus community’s commitment to their success.
Formal pledges are utilized in cultures throughout the world to inspire the confidence and respect of the individual during an official rite of passage or life-stage transition. The pledges at Convocation are of the highest order, commiting to the start of a new educational journey at Husson University, a beginning of an exciting life-long experience.
Classes begin at Husson University on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
