First-year students arrived at Husson University’s campus on Sunday, moving into residence halls and participating in the 2024 Convocation ceremony.

Husson University has more than 980 new first-year students across its on campus and online programs.

Volunteers helped students across campus carry totes, boxes and more into their rooms as parents helped make beds, arrange furniture and situate mirrors. In addition to getting settled in, students met with residential life staff, attended first-year class meetings and dined with their designated Welcome Weekend “squad.” There are also fun activities planned for the evening to help acclimate new students to campus.

During Convocation, President Lynne Coy-Ogan addressed the first-year students, welcoming them to campus and encouraging them to be open to new opportunities.

“The people you meet here could be your future mentors and long- time friends, both important roles in our lives. I encourage you to meet as many people as you can and to be open to new experiences. At the same time, it’s important that you prioritize letting people get to know you as well,” President Coy-Ogan said.

President Coy-Ogan told the students about her mentors from her undergraduate experience, who pushed her to push herself.

“Welcome to Husson University. We are so glad you’re here,” President Coy-Ogan said.

Classes at Husson begin on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
