Syndee Winters, star of Broadway's Hamilton and Lion King, will bring her show, Beyond Broadway: An Evening with Syndee Winters to The Gracie Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Winters’ show will both cap off Inauguration Week at Husson University, which celebrates the official installation of President Lynne Coy-Ogan, and kick off the venue’s 13th season.

“I encourage fans of music, Broadway, jazz and popular hits to come out and experience the huge talent Syndee Winters brings to the stage,” said Jeri Misler, artistic managing director of The Gracie. “I saw Syndee’s performance in New York City and was floored by her voice, her warm personality and her musical talent.”

Best known for her Broadway role as Princess Nala in The Lion King, Winters had the opportunity to play Angelica Skyler in the musical hit Hamilton. Syndee's other credits include lead roles in Motown the Musical, Pippin on Broadway and the live television filming of Jesus Christ Superstar with John Legend on NBC.

“Beyond Broadway isn't just any concert — it's a 75-minute journey through my life, from my roots as a first-generation Caribbean American kid in New York to living out my wildest dreams on the Broadway stage,” said Winters.

The show will feature popular Broadway hits, R&B favorites and songs from Winters’ one-woman show Lessons from a Lady, which is about the life of Lena Horne.

Beyond Broadway is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $32.50 to $40.50 depending on the seats. In celebration of Husson’s homecoming and Inauguration, the theater is offering a 10% discount off purchases with the promo code “Husson Gold.” Tickets can be purchased online at The Gracie Theatre website, www.gracietheatre.com or by calling the box office at 207-941-7888.

The season is sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank, which has sponsored seasons for 13 years running.
