A special artwalk featuring paintings by the late Doris Gammon Coy as well as the artwork of Martin Gallant and students will take place at Husson University on Wednesday, Oct. 16 in honor of Inauguration Week.
The artwalk will run from 1pm to 4:30pm on Wednesday, Oct. 16, culminating in an artist talk by Gallant in the Webber Student’s Center, where his artwork is on display in the Robert E. White Gallery through December. Coy’s artwork is on display in the Spotlight Gallery at Sawyer Library and student artwork is available for viewing in the WBRC Gallery at the Gracie Theatre.
Having Coy’s paintings as part of the Inauguration Artwalk is of special significance to President Lynne Coy-Ogan, who will be installed as Husson’s seventh president and first female CEO on Friday, Oct. 18.
“My mother, Doris Gammon Coy, painted still lifes and landscapes for over 55 years, capturing visual reminders of family stories, adventures and memories on Sebec Lake. It is very special to have her be part of this important week through her beautiful artwork,” said Coy-Ogan.
Husson regularly hosts celebrations of student creative work, inviting faculty, staff, students and the public to take a walking tour of galleries and displays. All Husson students take one Fine Arts offering during their course of study at the university.
All are welcome. See the Inauguration Artwalk Map for details and directions.
