It was a successful day of networking and connections as hundreds of Husson University students met with more than 70 employers on campus on Wednesday, Nov. 6 for the annual Fall Career Fair held at Newman Gymnasium.
Organizations from sectors including news, healthcare, law enforcement and more were eager to speak to Husson students at all levels of their educational journeys.
“On the tech side, the programs are unbelievable. They gave me a tour last time I was here of the studio and live productions that they’re doing. They’re getting hands-on experience with equipment that we don’t even use yet,” said Steve Duxbury, manager at Encore Event Planning
Encore has hired students from the New England School of Communications before and know how well-prepared they are.
Recruiters from First Atlantic Healthcare have had similar experiences with Husson students being extremely qualified.
“I like how they’re prepared. They interview very well. They start as Certified Nursing Assistants and work their way up to Registered Nurses. They know residents, they’re friendly, they’re kind, and they know their stuff,” said Talent Acquisition Partner Kerry Brown .
The career fair offers students a chance to meet with recruiters, learn about job openings, internships and network with potential employers in a casual, yet professional setting. While first-year students might not be job hunting, there is still valuable insight to be gained. Others are eager to jump right in the field and gain experience.
“I’m hoping to find a CNA position so I can begin working while in college and maybe try out some different hospitals before I become an RN,” said Shannon Florentine, a second year student in the Nursing program.
