Alfond Foundation Chairman to Deliver Commencement Address at 126th Husson Graduation

A man at a podium is speaking.Husson University is pleased to announce that Gregory Powell, chief executive officer and president of Dexter Enterprises LLC and chairman of the Harold Alfond Foundation, will deliver the address at the 2025 Husson University Commencement on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Powell, who graduated from Wesleyan University and the University of Maine School of Law, practiced law for 15 years, concentrating in litigation. He currently serves as an officer of the Bill and Joan Alfond Family Foundation, president of Dexter PTC LLC, director of Maine Hardware, and Count and Crush Systems LLC, and is a former director of Fairholme Trust Company and Spinnaker Trust. Powell co-founded Dexter Enterprises LLC, a wealth management company, with Harold Alfond in 1996. Appointed to the board of trustees of the Harold Alfond Foundation in 1996, he became chairman in 2005.

The impact of the Alfond Foundation’s work is evident at Husson University, as well as other universities throughout Maine. Husson’s College of Business is housed in Harold Alfond Hall, which was opened in 2021 after the construction was supported through a generous donation from the foundation. For more than two decades, the Harold Alfond Foundation has contributed to the success of Husson and the education of Husson students. From the Winkin Sports Complex to Husson’s unique XR program, Alfond is a valued partner in the development of Husson.

At Husson, we are so grateful for the investments the foundation has made in our School of Technology and Innovation, Harold Alfond Hall and other campus initiatives,” said President Lynne Coy-Ogan. “Our graduates are very fortunate to have such a thoughtful, accomplished leader as their commencement speaker for 2025.”

Husson’s 126th Commencement Ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
