Husson’s Annual Research and Scholarship Day Planned for April 17

The 15th Annual Husson University Research and Scholarship Day, scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2025, will showcase student and faculty research in areas including AI, metamemory regulation, fatigue, cancer survivorship education and social emotional learning in higher education.

The event is held in the Beardsley Meeting House Atrium and begins at 8:30am. Authors will be on hand with their posters beginning at 11am. There will also be several oral presentations in The Gracie Theatre. The research presented will include 24 projects from a variety of disciplines. 

Some highlights include: 

  • The Effects of Chest Physiotherapy and Physical Activity on Exercise Tolerance in Children with Cystic Fibrosis (Breanne Barton with faculty advisor Sarah Bedi, DNP, FNP-C)
  • The Effects of the Jada Device on Postpartum Hemorrhage in the First 24 Hours (Hazel Dow with Faculty Advisor Sarah Bedi, DNP, FNP-C)
  • Assessing the Community Mobility Needs of Elderly Individuals in Rural and Urban Maine (Gabrielle Baron, Isabelle Bicknell, Maisey Girsa, Cavenaugh Kelly, PhD, MS, OTR/L)
  • Kneehab Fatigue Study (Wayne Scott, MPT, PhD, Nicholas Marvin, Avery Pomerleau, Hunter Triplett)
  • Beyond Cheating: Cultivating AI Literacy Through Writing and Assessment Frameworks (Ryan Roderick, PhD)


At 1pm, the Plenary Session will begin featuring remarks from William J. Lindblad, director of the Office of Research and Scholarship as well as the awarding of the Distinguished Faculty Research Award. Each year, this award is presented to a faculty member who has engaged in scholarly work that’s been recognized or reviewed by his, her or their peers. 

The event will conclude with keynote speaker Lon Cardon, PhD, FMedSci, the president and chief executive officer for The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor. He will present the speech Genomics, Drug Discovery, and AI: Fulfilling the Promise or Chasing the Hype?
