Husson University Theatre is bringing magic to the Black Box Theater with a staging of Qui Nguyen’s She Kills Monsters scheduled for April 25-27.

The show follows the average Agnes Evans as she travels through the Dungeons and Dragons realm of her deceased younger sister’s making. The silly-yet-devastating She Kills Monsters will be performed, directed, and designed solely by students at Husson University.

The production is being directed by Tucker Whelan, a junior from South Berwick, Maine. It stars Husson students Eliza Pitman, Caroline Beckwith, Nex Staples, Sam Johnson, Kailyn Minoty, Kenzie Wade, Collin Peterson, Avery Farrington, Ash Fecteau, Emily Parent, Juliet Stoneton, Cheyenne Toth, Patience Small, Erin Toomey, Makenna Moore and Grace Hengel.

“It’s a very fun show that has a really strong message of being true to yourself, accepting who you are, and fighting the monsters that we face everyday,” said Whelan, “Overall, it’s a really great show– there’s a lot of action, a lot of comedy, and it’s a really good time.”

The crew is made up of Connor Powell, Kailyn Minoty, Grace Hengel, and Adelaide McGowan. Many of the students involved also participated in the fall production of The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals as well as previous productions of 17/18 and The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon.

She Kills Monsters will be staged in the Gracie Black Box Theatre on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 at 7:00 p.m. There will also be a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday, April 27. The theatre is located on the second level of the Beardsley Meeting House.

Tickets will be available for purchase at the door one hour prior to each performance. Doors open 30 minutes before the show starts. Admission is $10.00 for the general public, and free for Husson students.
