
Professor of Military Science
Lieutenant Colonel Michael R. Davis has been serving as the Professor of Military Science at the University of Maine since June 2016. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1990, serving in the enlisted ranks for seven years. He earned his commission in 1998 through the U.S. Army’s Officer Candidate School with a Basic Branch of Armor. Lieutenant Colonel Davis completed his Bachelor’s Degree at Westfield State University in Massachusetts (Class of 97’) and received a Master’s Degree from Webster University in 2007.
His military education includes the Armor Officer Basic Course, Cavalry Leader’s Course, Air Assault School, Maintenance Officer’s Leader’s Course, the Armor Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms Staff and Services School, and the Command and General Staff College (ILE).
Lieutenant Colonel Davis has served in the U.S. military for over twenty-five years and in the Army over eighteen years in various command and staff positions at numerous locations. He has executed four combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and conducted numerous operational deployments throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Central and South Asia. Specialties include military training, organizational leadership, operational and strategic planning.
