Cyr Opportunity Scholarship

cyr-opportunity-scholarship.jpgThrough a generous donation from Husson alumni Joseph and Suzanne Cyr, who are longtime supporters of the university, the Cyr Opportunity Scholarship provides additional financial support to students in Penobscot County.

Who is Eligible? 
Entering First-year, first-time, full-time students. The student must be a resident of Penobscot County, Maine or attend a high school in Penobscot County, Maine.

How do I apply?
Start by completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and your application for admission to Husson University.

After that, there are no additional steps, you are automatically reviewed for scholarship eligibility when you apply.

Are their academic requirements? 
Students must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher by the end of their junior year 

What are the financial qualifications? 
Students and their families must have an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $80,000 or less as reported on the student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application for their first year of enrollment at Husson. 

What is the duration of the award? 
Students will be awarded the Cyr Opportunity Scholarship for up to 4 years of undergraduate study.  Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress as outlined in the Husson Student Handbook.  Students must maintain a minimum of 12 credits per semester or 24 credits in an academic year to remain eligible for upcoming semesters. 

How will the scholarship be broken down on my award? 
The dollar amount for every student’s scholarship may vary.  But the scholarship with a combination of all other forms of financial aid will be equal to the cost of tuition for the students selected academic program. 

What are the renewal expectations? 
To continue to be eligible for the Cyr Opportunity Scholarship students must:

  • submit a FAFSA every year
  • maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • remain in good standing with Husson University.
