- Getting Started
In order to get your study abroad experience started, you will need to research programs, consult with your academic advisor, and sit down with Husson's study abroad advisor to discuss your interests and make a plan.
Once you have researched some possible programs and narrowed down your choices, you will need to carefully review the application process and requirements for each program. Pay close attention to deadlines -- which are generally set in October (Spring Semester), February (Summer), and March (Fall Semester), while some deadlines tend to vary.
Choosing a Program
Before choosing a study abroad program, carefully examine your interests and what you hope to gain from your experience.
- How long do you wish to study abroad? (Summer, spring/fall semester, a year?)
- Is it better for me to take a semester abroad in the fall or spring? (Speak with your academic advisor sooner rather than later!!)
- Do you hope to learn a foreign language or to improve your proficiency in a language?
- Is there a part of the world you have always wanted to see?
- Would you prefer an urban or rural setting?
- Would you enjoy living with a host family? Or would you prefer a dorm or apartment?
With these thoughts in mind, visit our programs page to begin your research.
