The 3D Modeling & Motion Design Certificate is an interdisciplinary certificate appealing to those interested in graphic design, visual design, web design, video, and extended reality. Students will create three-dimensional assets used in video games, special effects, and entertainment. By emphasizing narrative, students will learn to tell stories in motion using compositing, keyframes, timelines, looping, motion tweening, basic scripting, and visual effects.

Add advanced skills of music production to your proficiency in either live sound production or post production. You'll learn advanced mixing, recording, and music production techniques and gain valuable experience working recording events in the NESCom audio studio and with the video department.
Combine your current proficienty in either live sound production or music production with advanced skills in post production. You'll learn foley recording, dialogue recording, and field recording and production techniques and also gain valuable experience working video shoots, field productions, and film shoots with the video department.
The world of professional audio is broad, exciting, and competitive. NESCom Audio Engineering is unique in its diverse approach to preparing students for success in this rewarding industry. In addition to music production and recording, NESCom can prepare graduates for a variety of audio careers including music production, live sound, and broadcast audio.
Audio Engineering students receive training in recording, mixing, and editing; a foundation in the physics of sound and electricity; and an in-depth survey of popular music fundamentals. With plenty of hands-on labs, students learn engineering techniques from expert faculty as they master equipment in world-class studios. Following a junior year choice between a focus in music recording live sound production, students culminate their studies with either a music album project, or a film or TV project in which they must capture, edit, and mix all dialogue, music, and sound effects.
Audio Engineering with concentrations in Music Production and Live Sound Production
This certificate is designed for students interested in courses providing basic knowledge in audio vocabulary, careers, equipment, software, introductory recording & mixing, technology, and music production.
Through this program, you'll learn the unique characteristics of filmmaking and storytelling, in both the planning and the artistic development of production. This certificate is designed for students who would like to complement their current skill set, whether communications related or not, with the fundamental skills of video production. Courses will provide students with a basic knowledge in video vocabulary, careers, equipment, software, broadcast and studio production.
The Certificate in Graphic Design spotlights the design process and how to develop a project from concept to delivery. The program covers design and technology processes that are used in print, web, visual, and production design. Students will learn the elements of and how to design posters, packages, publications, exhibitions, information displays and web pages. Students will learn imaging creation using contemporary technical skills and industry standard software. These studio courses provide students with practical experience in design across multiple design disciplines and media. Students will develop a portfolio that demonstrates their design skill and knowledge.
Candidates for the Graphic Design Certificate are required to complete a minimum of 15 semester credit hours and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0. BS Graphic/Visual Design Majors are not eligible for this certificate.

In our Sports Journalism program, you’ll learn how to work as a journalist with a special interest, knowledge and skills in sports. Our students learn how to find and work with sports information. They also learn how to report, write, shoot and edit sports news for print, audio, video and on-air broadcasts. The Web, newspapers, magazines, radio and television all play a role in a graduate’s education. You’ll gain hands-on experience reporting sports news and doing play-by-play, interviews and color commentary for our radio station, WHSN 89.3 FM, for our television mobile-production unit and for our TV news and sports programming. And you can be a sports writer for our student-run, online newspaper The Spectator.
Our focus is to prepare our Sports Journalism students to become “backpack” journalists. They learn not only the writing part of the job but also the photography and video skills needed to be successful in this evolving field.

With courses in lighting, editing, directing, audio and videography, the New England School of Communications (NESCom) video/film production program prepares students to step into the workforce with hands-on experience using industry-standard equipment. With hundreds of years of collective industry experience, our faculty work to help you develop expertise and creativity as you master the professional production, knowledge and skills employers demand. As part of their studies, students participate in live news and sports television broadcasts, film productions and group projects. Unlike other programs, NESCom video/film production students begin working with equipment in their first year.
