Husson University’s Board of Trustees Approve Construction of New $3 Million Wellness Learning Center
Husson University’s Board of Trustees recently voted to approve the construction of a new 7,100 square foot, $3 million wellness learning center on the institution’s Bangor campus. The new facility will be devoted to delivering health services to Husson students, and health education opportunities to those enrolled in the University’s nursing, occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT) and graduate counseling programs.

After leading Husson University to its most successful season in program history, Gabby Price has been named the New England College Division Coach of the Year and senior tailback John Smith, the season Division II/III Gold Helmet Award winner - presented by the Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation - announced by the New England Football Writers (NEFW) on Sunday afternoon. Drug Arrests Increase Statewide for Heroin and Methamphetamine
Abuse of recreational and prescription medications continues to be a substantial public health problem in Maine. According to a new study published in the May issue of Pharmacotherapy (PubMed ID: 28543168) conducted by the Husson University School of Pharmacy, the University of New England College of Pharmacy, and Bowdoin College, this drug epidemic may be evolving away from prescription opioids and moving toward heroin and stimulants like cocaine and methamphetamine.

Over 72% of Husson University School of Pharmacy Students Make a Six-Figure Annual Income After Graduation
A recent survey conducted by Career Services at Husson University has revealed that higher education continues to lead to higher earnings. Data from a survey of 2015 and 2016 Husson University Doctor of Pharmacy degree graduates revealed that 72.7 percent of the survey respondents were making $100,000 a year or more within a year of graduation.

Oscar-Nominated Documentary About Refugee Crisis at Husson University’s Gracie Theatre
Fire At Sea, or Marefuocco, takes place on the Italian island of Lampedusa, a remote, rocky outcropping in the southern Mediterranean. The island is closer to the Libyan shore than it is to Italy. The documentary tells the story of a 12-year-old Italian boy who enjoys fishing, school and using his slingshot. The boy also enjoys staring at the ocean and speaking with the thousands of people who cross the sea to his island.

Excitement is building on the campus of Husson University for the local Penobscot County Spelling Bee finals. Fifth Annual Interprofessional Evening of Conversation for Aspiring Healthcare and Education Professionals to Focus on Patients with Opioid Addictions
More than 300 students from Husson University, will participate in the Fifth Annual Interprofessional Evening of Conversation on February 23, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Gracie Theatre. This event, structured in a manner similar to “grand rounds,” features a simulated case presentation with an actor portraying a patient with a health condition. Students observe the case presentation and then engage in small group interprofessional discussions in which they talk about the care of the “patient.”
